FEEL THE CITY

Sobre edificios y arquitectura

There is an endless list of buildings making up the historical-artistic heritage of the city, where we can highlight 9 National Monuments. Among the most interesting buildings, the following places are worth visiting: The Home City of Miguel de Cervantes (XVI c.) –which is today a museum-, the House of the Interview (XV c.), well known because this is the place where the first meeting between Cristóbal Colón and the Catholic Kings was held; The Hospital Our Lady of the Mercy or Antezana (XV c.), which is considered the most ancient hospital in Europe and where San Ignacio de Loyola worked; the Magister Cathedral (XVI c.) and, Saint Bernard’s Convent (XVII), of the Cistercian order. Concerning the buildings related to the University, we can highlight the building of the Old Hall of Residence of San Ildefonso, with its chapel (1553) where the first Spanish grammarian Antonio de Nebrija was buried, and its Main hall, Trilingual School which hosts the famous Cervantes prize awards .
