Fumar en lugares públicos

Along the year 2006, it is been applied the new non-smoking law in the Spanish public places, prohibition affecting all kinds of institutions as well as working places and other public sites. Smoking is only allowed in those places intended for smokers and if the law is broken a fine will have to be paid. In restaurants and bars, if they are big enough (depending on the business’ square metres), it is possible to find areas for smokers and non-smokers. If the places are small, smoking isn’t allowed. Nevertheless, the law accounts for each worker so that he or she can spend some time during his/her labour shift to smoke outside their working place.
