Alcalá de Henares (Spain)

FEEL THE CITY

La calle porticada más larga

Alcalá’s High Street, a wide arched street of medieval origin, has been the commercial nucleus of the city since XIIIth c.,  and also the place where most of its population prefer to have nice walks as it is a pedestrian street. It is also the longest arched street in Spain, 390 metres length, known before as the Jewry High Street. In addition to its charming houses, the visitor will find such monuments as the Hospital de Antezana, known as the "Hospitalillo", which was founded in 1485, and the Museum of Cervantes built in where it is believed the famous writer was born.

At the end of High Street we can find Cervantes Square, the centre of Alcalá as well as the meeting place and starting point of many of the tourist tours around the city.
