Fruit stalls

Sliced pan or ‘toast' bread is not very popular in Poland so bakeries offer a great range of bread and rolls. Customers can choose from many kinds of delicious wholemeal bread (chleb razowy), traditionally baked bread and white bread.

Polish sausages and meat enjoy an excellent reputation in the world. Some of them are smoked in a traditional way, for example: polędwica (smoked sirloin), szynka (ham), kiełbasa krakowska (krakowska sausage), kabanosy (thin, smoked pepperoni-like sausage).

When you go shopping you might be surprised by the way change is given in shops. The shop assistant usually puts the change on a little tray on the counter, instead of giving it into your hand.

The picturesque historical street vegetable and flower market is situated in the heart of the Old Town where you can always buy fresh fruit and vegetables.

Many visitors enjoy walking around the colourful stalls and feeling the spirit of this historic place where people have been purchasing fruit and vegetables for centuries.
