Flagi Gdańska Gdańsk's flags |
The visitors to our city may notice Gdańsk's coat of arms on many old houses and buildings all over the Old Town. Usually supported by two lions, it presents two white crosses topped by a golden crown on a red background. The crosses come date back from the time when Gdańsk was ruled by Teutonic Knights; the crown was added in 1457 by the Polish king, Kazimierz Jagiellończyk, in honour of the bravery of the citizens of Gdańsk.
