Ahmed Adnan Saygun (born in Ä°zmir on 7 September 1907 - died in Istanbul on 6 January 1991) was a Turkish composer, musicologist and researcher. Ahmed Adnan Saygun is acknowledged as one of the most important 20th century composers in Turkish music history. He was a master of the neoclassical form, and his works were rooted in Western musical practice; yet they incorporated traditional Turkish folk songs and culture. The Izmir Municipality recently built this Arts and Culture Center in honor of the composer.
