The Italian master builder Domenico dell'Allio was in charge of the construction of the Renaissance fortress with is bastions, curtain walls and deep moat. The Herbersdorff Renaissance palace, which is connected to the town fortifications, is with its inner arcade courtyard an example of the Italian building art in Bad Radkersburg.
