The Styrian “Kernöl” or “bučno olje“ is an important export product of the Austrian and Slovenian parts of Styria. It is made by pressing roasted, hulled pumpkin seeds. Pumpkin seed oil serves as a salad dressing when combined with cider vinegar, but it can also be used with deserts to give them a nutty flavor.
The Styrian pumpkin seeds are also well known to prevent bladder and prostate problems, and eliminate intestinal parasites.
