Miercurea Ciuc (Romania)

FEEL THE CITY

In Romania the Hungarian minority represents roughly 7% of the population of the country. Owing to historical reasons, this proportion is almost reversed in the region of Harghita, the Hungarian population representing over 82% in Miercurea Ciuc. Most Romanians born in this region speak Hungarian as their second language and they attend some of the most important cultural events of the town / region. This leads to a better understanding and mutual respect for each other’s culture and traditions and, altogether, to the multicultural aspect of the town.
